Media Specialist, Bethany College

Position Overview

Bethany College, a liberal arts college in the northern panhandle of West Virginia, seeks a full-time Media Specialist in its Office of Institutional Advancement. This position will encompass a range of communications services, including media relations, writing, and marketing communications.

Position Requirements

The successful candidate will demonstrate a proven track record in media relations and/or journalism. Excellent news judgement, ability to identify media placement opportunities, and convert strategic communications goals into measurable results in media coverage of the college, faculty, programs, campus events, etc.

The candidate will possess solid writing skills and will have professional experience writing feature articles, news releases, publications, web content, video, and other marketing content. Must also be fluent in the strategic use of major social media platforms.

Current knowledge of media relations resources and technology tools required. Solid writing skills with a current portfolio that reflects an ability to write for a variety of different audiences and formats also required. Higher education, public relations agency, or journalism experience preferred.
