Webinar: Secrets of the PR Startup: Lessons From the First Three Years in Business

April 24, 2018 @ 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm

PRSA Webinar

This is a PRSA Webinar, free for PRSA Pittsburgh members.

Overview

Presenter Alex Slater launched Clyde Group, a Washington D.C.-based communications and public affairs agency, in 2014. Just two years post-launch, Clyde Group has been shortlisted for PRWeek’s Boutique Agency of the Year and Slater was named among PRWeek’s 40 Under 40. During this 60-minute webinar, Slater will share insights and learning from launching a boutique agency, building a reputable brand and culture, and managing a (mostly) millennial staff to drive success. Slater will share the challenges he has faced in starting his own company, the way he differentiates and competes with established agencies, how he’s built a largely millennial team with diverse skill sets to drive meaningful outcomes, and how Clyde Group leverages young minds to drive change. This webinar will encourage participation, input and questions.

By the end of this webinar, participants will be able to:

  • Better understand how brand, culture, staff and grit work together to drive success and meaningful outcomes for your business and your clients. Learn how to take what you know and how you are managed, and apply it to building your own company.
  • Reshape the conversation of millennial staff. Often, discussions of millennials are focused on how to motivate and keep younger generations engaged and loyal. Here we’ll explore how to tap into the skill sets each individual has to inspire and build leadership within younger staff and provide them with opportunities that better prepare them to be PR consultants in today’s media landscape.
  • Understand how your brand should represent you and the culture you strive to build within your company. Learn more about how to develop your brand and how to differentiate yourself from the competition (who are established and have solid reputations). We’ll also talk about taking those lessons learned and applying them to client work, and show how your company culture reflects your company at large.
