The Content Communications Manager is a key member of the SAE International Marketing Communications team, overseeing all communications efforts for the organization, including media relations, social media, internal communications and executive communications. The role will manage the communications team as well as all agency partner relationships. The role will act as the primary liaison with internal and external stakeholders, including SAE customers, members volunteers and partners, to uncover new content and opportunities. The candidate should possess a strong grasp of the following skills necessary for success: writing/editing across multiple platforms, media relations (top tier, trade and local media), managerial capabilities, and be able to develop and execute action plans that inform strategic direction for the organization.

Primary Duties And Responsibilities

  • Manage communications team and agency partner relationships
  • Deliver external and internal communications strategy and tone of voice
  • Create organizational brand story and messaging for use on SAE-owned channels, as well as within partner events/programs to ensure alignment
  • Develop content for SAE-owned channels, including blogs, podcasts, press releases, etc.
  • Serve as primary point of contact for all media engagement efforts
  •  Lead organizational thought leadership efforts
  • Develop and execute communications plans for product and service launches
  • Draft scripts for C-suite and Board of Directors for events and meetings
  • Develop yearly Annual Report
  • Manage annual budget
  • Collaborate with marketing team to execute media campaigns
  • Identify new channels and develop strategic reasoning for growth opportunities
  • Report metrics on all communications efforts back to the organization

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelors degree in Communications, Marketing, Business, New Media, or Public Relations preferred. Will accept experience in lieu of education.
  • 10-15 years of experience in public relations, social media and/or content creation

Specialized Knowledge And Skills

  • Strong managerial skills for internal team and external agency partners
  • Excellent writing, editing, presentation, communication, and visual intelligence skills
  • Demonstrable media relations capabilities
  • Ability to engage with executives to support and provide guidance on organization’s strategic initiatives
  • Detail- and customer-oriented with good multitasking and organizational abilities
  • Experience with paid social media efforts is a plus
  • Experience with social media management tools, content management and mobile platforms preferred
  • Adequate knowledge of search engine optimization (SEO)
  • Ability to travel 20%
