FOVNDRY seeks an experienced, trusted agency PR account manager who is ready to take the next step in their career as the Director of our PR division. This is a full-time position based out of our Rockville office. (Candidate must be willing to relocate.) The ideal candidate is fluent in PR agency initiatives and best practices; has a thorough understanding of how those practices work within and contribute to larger, integrated marketing strategies; and has a proven track record of successfully securing results and managing staff and clients.  The Director of PR is a dynamic leader who is committed to our integrated team mentality and will be a key member of the FOVNDRY leadership team, responsible for sustaining and growing the PR division’s ongoing success.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee the agency’s  PR  division, including clients and staff:
    • Directly manage  PR teammates (account managers and account executives), and monitor individual and team performance to ensure accountability in meeting internal and client expectations
    • Oversee the day-to-day management of PR client accounts, budgets, strategies, and resources
    • Mentor and empower teammates, elevating work developed by team members by providing guidance and fostering a collaborative environment
    • Cultivate and maintain relationships with key internal and external parties (staff, clients, referral sources, teaming partners, peers, media)
    • Build and grow FOVNDRY’s Public Relations account team, attracting and developing top talent and expanding our offerings
  • Execute PR strategies and tactics as needed on behalf of assigned accounts:
    • Lead and oversee internal planning meetings, brainstorm sessions, and the development of integrated communications strategies and media-based communications plans
    •  Employ and maintain strong media relations to shape and control communications that are in line with overall account and company objectives
    • Meticulously track and report budgets
  • Lead strategic PR initiatives on behalf of the agency:
    • Establish, track, and meet annual performance goals
    • Oversee and sustain  ongoing  brand awareness for the firm via traditional and digital PR channels
    • Lead strategic thought-leadership initiatives for FOVNDRY to increase awareness of  the agency and to maintain and elevate the agency’s brand and credibility in target sectors and across various channels (e.g. webinars, marketing/speaking events, traditional and social media amplification)
  • Serve as a key member of the FOVNDRY leadership team:
    • Inspire progressive, on-strategy thinking across teams including creative, marketing, and PR
    • Promote and facilitate a culture of collaboration between the agency and our clients and partners
    • Work within and uphold adherence to established agency systems and protocols to manage personal and team workflows, schedules, and deadlines; working with leadership team to evaluate, plan, and implement additional procedures and protocols as needed
    • Participate in agency planning and review meetings on behalf of assigned staff/department
    • Contribute to the evolving agency culture, providing new ideas and insights to help lead the team toward continued integration and growth

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 10+ years of proven work experience as a PR Manager or in a similar PR role in a cross-functional agency setting
  • 3+ years of experience in a staff-management position
  • BA or BS in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, or a liberal arts discipline with a strong writing foundation
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication relationship-building skills, and attention to detail
  • Excellent presentation skills, with confidence to lead speaking opportunities
  • Proven experience managing staff and clients and providing mentorship
  • Proven ability to prioritize, accountability in meeting deadlines, and a willingness to take ownership
  • Extensive experience using agency digital platforms for timekeeping, project management, etc.
  • Expertise in managing online social campaigns
