PR and Social Media Marketing Executive, American Metal Market

We are looking for a dynamic and innovative PR and social media marketing executive who loves the idea of getting engagement and interest from their work. Pricing of metals and associated services has a significant impact on the commercial and economic success of global organizations and thus the overall global economy. So it’s a vibrant and hugely important sector.

You will work with our global pricing and news experts, who produce a large amount of very valuable content, to create an exciting programme of engagement. You will help to implement the content and social media execution which should be tailored to specific audience segments across the global markets. About the Division:

The PR and social media executive role sits within the price reporting division which aims to provide leading pricing intelligence, including independent industry benchmarks, for the metal and mining industry. The group’s global portfolio of news, analysis, conferences and insight services complement these price benchmarks.

Price reporters assess over 2,000 base metals, steel, raw material and non-metallic mineral prices, many of which are the industry standard benchmarks, trusted and used across the industry supply chain.

Key Priorities:

  • To use our market leading content to attract and engage a global audience within the global metals sector for our portfolio of products
  • To use social media to help create and maintain awareness, engagement, influence and purchase
  • To significantly improve the PR for the division using the best content and all available channels
  • To increase the reach of the brand and products into the sector, drive engagement and deliver qualified, engaged leads to a sales team in order to secure licence revenues

Principle Responsibilities:

  • Execute the defined social strategy to increase our reach in the global metal and mineral markets and to increase social customer engagement that is focused on valued content and engaged conversations to help develop the customer’s experience of our products and brand
  • Proactively work to identify effective PR opportunities and research and update media contacts/lists
  • Write and sub-edit press releases and talking points, and work with internal subject matter experts to cultivate content to support ongoing and ad-hoc campaign programs
  • Develop targeted pitches for specific media outlets as needed
  • Develop and deliver comprehensive press kits as needed
  • Manage portfolio of media coverage
  • Concentrate campaigns on the beginning stages of the marketing funnel to increase reach and new leads
  • Create, implement and optimise social campaigns (including Social PPC) on key platforms such as Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook
  • Plan and deliver engaging copy, blogs and content where required
  • Develop content in all formats that will be used in all stages of the customer journey
  • Develop and implement a test and learn program for your content marketing, sharing lessons with the global marketing team
  • Improve and manage a social listening program to provide contextual intelligence for your marketing (social and otherwise)
  • Work closely with other members of the global marketing team to produce visual assets
  • Work closely with other team members, agencies and freelancers to deliver as part of an agile marketing function
  • Promote and ensure brand guidelines adherence to create a synonymous brand image
  • Possess the research skills necessary to conduct gap analysis exercises to fully understand the scope of opportunity within a given sector of our industry

Experience Required:

  • Ideally 1-2 years’ PR, social media and marketing experience at executive level
  • Have a proven and demonstrable track record of running successful social media campaigns and an understanding of paid social media advertising
  • Excellent understanding of optimising campaigns on social platforms or social media management tool
  • Excellent understanding of SEO principles when creating and publishing engaging content
  • Have fine attention to detail with experience in content writing/copywriting and blogging
  • Excellent demonstrable experience in producing short-form written copy (social, web, email, lead nurture) in a B2B environment
  • Proven track record in working with a team (internally, with agencies or freelancers) to take content from conception through to distribution
  • Hands-on experience of managing digital & social media channels, campaigns or initiatives
  • A strong understanding of the buyer journey and the role of content marketing through the “funnel”

Skills and Attributes:

  • Bachelor degree with a major in Marketing or Communication (or similar education)
  • Experience of working autonomously and managing several projects simultaneously
  • Hands-on mentality and strong track record of executing successful marketing campaigns
  • Comfortable working in a very fast paced environment managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Brand management skills – understanding creative development, channel integration and use of brand guidelines
  • Experience of working with an Email Service Provider or Email Campaign Management system
  • Creating, testing and delivering e-newsletters and email marketing campaigns
  • Excellent copywriting skills
  • Knowledge of data insights, analytics and segmentation
  • Basic Knowledge of HTML and UX
  • An agile mind-set and hands-on approach to getting things done
  • Experience working with Adobe Creative Suite products (preferred)
