PRSA Pittsburgh DEI Program Internship

PRSA Pittsburgh is proud to announce the inaugural DEI Program Internship.

The goal of the internship is to provide real-world knowledge in PR while supporting day-to-day activities of the chapter. The internship is open and available to college juniors and seniors from racial and ethnic minority groups, racial and ethnic marginalized or minority groups, underserved or underrepresented groups, racial and ethnic minority students from a Pittsburgh-area university/college that supports internship credit.

This would be a Fall internship and the intern would work an average of 10-15 hours per week from September 9 through the end of November. This is a remote role although there may be opportunities to work from a local agency and/or brand office location as well. The student would partner with PRSA’s executive board to determine a schedule that works for them while still meeting the requirements of a 3-4 credit internship. The student would be paid a stipend of $2,000.

The PRSA Pittsburgh intern would report to a member of the PRSA Pittsburgh executive board and together would discuss weekly assignments, answer questions, and collaborate on the work that needs to be done. This work would typically include providing support as-needed to the broader PRSA Pittsburgh Board and would include work like authoring blog posts and newsletter articles, creating social media content, developing promotional materials, conducting media outreach, interviewing PRSA members, providing event management support, and any other tasks typical of a PR intern. The goal is to provide the intern with an excellent real-world experience to help prepare them as they pursue a communications career.

The application process includes a brief application and submission of a student’s current resume. Applications are first reviewed by members of the PRSA Pittsburgh executive board. In-person interviews are then conducted with the top 3-5 candidates. The selected intern is invited to attend the monthly PRSA Pittsburgh Board meetings and is expected to speak frequently with Board members as part of their job duties.
