Meet Pittsburgh Hires Veterans

Our Partnership

with Pittsburgh Hires Veterans

Many small nonprofits are without a full-time communications professional on staff to develop the fundamentals of a communications strategy for the organization. Pittsburgh Hires Veterans (PHV) came to PRSA Pittsburgh with interest in developing a social media strategy.

After talking with the PHV team, we’ve decided to do more. PRSA Pittsburgh’s Public Service Committee is working with PHV to create a suite of strategies and templates for the PHV staff to use in its email marketing, social media outreach, and media relations. These will all help PHV better reach veterans and employers, both who could greatly benefit from their services.

A Word from PHV

Dayna Brown, Executive Director

“A pro bono relationship with PRSA Pittsburgh will have a tremendous impact on our organization, veterans and employers. One of the best ways to thank a veteran or transitioning service member for their service is to help them secure a great job, now more than ever.”

Why hire a veteran?

Veterans, with their training, discipline, and dedication, can be valuable assets to your organization. When you hire a veteran, your company gets a devoted employee and you give a veteran a new start in their post-military life.

In the News

Pittsburgh Hires Veterans

Officially incorporated as a nonprofit in 2018, Pittsburgh Hires Veterans is dedicated to providing one-on-one support to U.S. military veterans and current service members in search of education, training and employment opportunities, all at no cost. Allegheny County has the state’s largest veteran population. Coupled with the fact that veterans have a higher unemployment rate than civilians in the Pittsburgh region, PHV’s mission is even more critical.

PHV’s small staff has military connections and an understanding of issues encountered in the transition from the military to life as a civilian. Veterans and their families struggling to find long-term employment in the area can use PHV as a resource for employment connections through PHV’s employment partners, vocational training and assistance with accessing other long- and short-term educational solutions.
