Fallingwater, the architectural masterwork designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, is seeking a digital multimedia intern for summer 2021.

Description:

This is a unique opportunity to work at and help promote Fallingwater, a renowned architectural site that is now on the UNESCO World Heritage List. This internship will enhance your skills and build experience in the field of digital communications, media arts and social media. The intern will work to support the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy’s Communications Department in the area of digital communications for Fallingwater’s website, social media and other electronic platforms.

Duties and responsibilities may include:

Content development: Propose and develop content ideas for new videos, social media, eNewsletter stories and other projects.
Photography and videography: Take photography and video shoots as assigned inside and outside the house.
Social media planning: Support Fallingwater’s social media platforms by writing content, supplying photos and possibly developing graphics. Assist with social media content for Fallingwater that keeps audiences informed and interested to help attract and engage new and current fans and followers.
Web content development: Support Fallingwater’s website presence, including taking photographs, recording video and audio and developing graphics for website. Help to optimize website images in WordPress.

Qualifications:

We are looking for a qualified student with progress toward a bachelor’s or master’s degree in digital communications, media arts, interactive media, social media, design or communications or a related field. Qualified candidates must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and be able to work independently. Proficiency in videography and video editing, light photo editing and resizing, Microsoft Office applications and the use of a DSLR camera are required for this position. The intern will also perform other multimedia duties as assigned, such as photographing special events or preservation work at Fallingwater.

Position Duration:

June 7 to August 13, 2021. The intern will be expected to work during normal business hours (typically 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.), 30-40 hours per week. Occasional work outside of regular hours could be required for urgent or special projects.

Location:

Fallingwater is located in rural Mill Run, Pennsylvania (ZIP code 15464), and is approximately 90 miles southeast from the Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT). Having a motor vehicle is strongly recommended as there are no stores or amenities within walking distance of onsite housing.

Pay:

This is an hourly paid internship that includes free onsite housing on the Fallingwater campus. Interns are required to provide their own food, linens, laundry supplies and toiletries.
